Sidewall sprinklers are fire protection devices designed to be installed on the walls of a room, typically close to the ceiling. Unlike traditional sprinkler heads mounted on ceilings (e.g. pendent or upright sprinklers), sidewall sprinklers are installed horizontally on walls. This design allows for installation in areas where ceiling-mounted options are impractical.

Sidewall sprinklers provide a one-sided discharge pattern, typically shaped like a half-paraboloid. They direct water outward into the room and also discharge water onto the wall behind the sprinkler.

Sidewall sprinklers are particularly useful in spaces where ceiling piping is limited or ceiling-mounted sprinklers may ruin the aesthetics. They are also often used in narrow spaces—such as corridors, lobbies, and offices. They can also benefit spaces with low headroom where conventional ceiling sprinklers may be at risk of damage.
