L-Type Anchor Bolts Guide

Updated: Oct 22, 2024

Ā

L-type anchor bolts are anchor bolts with an ā€œLā€ shape. They have a straight, threaded rod with a bend at one end, forming a right angle. L-type anchor bolts are often used where a flush surface is required, such as in concrete or slab walls. The bent end of the bolt is inserted into a pre-drilled hole and secured with a nut, while the straight end protrudes through the surface of the concrete.

Characteristics of an L-Type Anchor Bolt

L-type anchor bolts have several key characteristics that make them suitable for various construction applications:

Strength and Durability

L-type anchor bolts are designed to be strong and durable. They have a high load-bearing capacity, allowing them to withstand heavy loads and vibrations.

Corrosion Resistance
Easy Installation

Applications for L-Type Anchor Bolts

L-type anchor bolts guide can be used in various applications, such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Building foundations

  • Industrial equipment anchoring

  • Structural steel connections

  • Light poles and highway signs

  • Bridge construction

  • Wind turbine installations

Material Grades of L-Type Anchor Bolts

Material grades in anchor bolts refer to the strength and durability of the anchor bolt. The grade may vary depending on the type of anchor bolt. Material grades are determined by ASTM InternationalĀ (formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials). The grades are defined by a grade number, which indicates the tensile strength and hardness of a material.

Why is this important?

An anchor boltā€™s material grade determines the load-bearing capacity and the amount of stress it can withstand before breaking or deforming. This grading system helps contractors and builders determine the appropriate anchor bolt for their project. Higher material grades are typically more durable and suitable for heavy-duty applications.

L-Type Anchor Bolt Material Grades Available in Stanhope

At Stanhope, we offer different types of material grades for our L-type anchor bolts, including the following:

  • A307 Standard

  • 4140 High Tensile

  • SC45

  • SCM440 High Tensile

Coating Options for L-Type Anchor Bolts

L-type anchor bolts are typically coated with corrosion-resistant materials to enhance durability and resistance against environmental factors. We carry L-type anchor bolts with the following coating option:

  • Black Iron:Ā Made from low-carbon steel

  • Galvanized:Ā Made of low-carbon steel and coated with a layer of zinc by electroplating the anchor bolt in zinc solution

  • Hot-dipped Galvanized:Ā Made of steel and coated with a layer of zinc by immersing the bolt in a molten zinc bath at approximately 449Ā°C (840Ā°F)

Available Diameter Sizes of L-Type Anchor Bolts

At Stanhope Prime Resources, Inc., we offer a wide range of L-type anchor bolt diameters to accommodate various project requirements.

Our available sizes include the following:
  • 10mm (3/8") - 1.5P

  • 12mm (1/2") - 13TPI NC

  • 16mm (5/8") - 11TPI NC

  • 19mm (3/4") - 10TPI NC

  • 25mm (1") - 8TPI NC

  • 20mm - 2.5P

  • 28mm (1-1/8") - 7TPI NC

  • 32mm (1-1/4") - 7TPI NC

  • 36mm - 4.0P

The best diameter size depends on the specific requirements of the projectā€”including the load-bearing capacity and the type of structure being secured.
