A stud bolt metric plated double-threaded bolt is a fastener with exterior threading of equal lengths on both ends of the shank. The threading on each end runs in opposite directions, but the middle is a smooth, unthreaded section. It differs from fully-threaded bolts, which have threads along the entire shank length.
Stud Bolt Metric (Plated)
Double-threaded bolts allow the bolt to advance in one direction regardless of the direction the nuts are turning. They can typically hold twice as much weight as single-threaded bolts due to their two sets of threads. They are often used in furniture assembly or construction projects like decks and outdoor structures to provide extra strength and stability. Their coating or plating is typically made of zinc, nickel, chrome, or other corrosion-resistant metals to protect the underlying steel from corrosion and wear.
Different sizes are available in metric.
